Position Details:

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Washington State University, Pullman has a position open for a candidate to either work full-time or part-time as a Lecturer of Mathematics.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to teach broadly across the introductory-level course offerings. The successful applicant will be a scholar who is strongly committed to developing quality educational experiences while also being deeply interested in mentoring and contributing to campus diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. The position will begin on August 16, 2022 on the Pullman campus.

Summary of Duties: Lecturer of Mathematics

The responsibilities for full-time 100% FTE are teaching (80% – four courses per semester) and service (20%). Adjustments to FTE will be made for part-time.

The successful applicant should be able to teach most of the introductory-level courses within the Mathematics and Statistics curriculum, which include basic mathematics, intermediate algebra, college algebra, trigonometry, calculus sequence courses, introductory linear algebra, elementary statistics, and classes for teacher preparation.

Additionally, the successful candidate will be expected to participate in some department service activities related to teaching and curriculum, and attend department faculty meetings.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Mathematics or Mathematics Education, or a closely related field is required at the time of appointment.
  • Demonstrated record of effectiveness in teaching undergraduate mathematics courses,
  • Demonstrated ability and/or potential to support mentor, and educate students from diverse backgrounds including those who identify with historically and systemically underserved and excluded groups.
  • Demonstrated ability and/or potential to contribute to WSU’s inclusion, diversity, equity and access goals
