The Washington Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Washington State University
(WSU) seeks a Business Advisor for our Yakima, Washington location.

The Business Advisor guides clients in the development of comprehensive business plans, as
well as operating plans for management development, market development, organizational
structure development, and financial management and financial proposal development.

The Business Advisor is responsible for delivering in-depth, impact-driven advising and training
that result in directly assisting small to medium sized businesses and entrepreneurs to succeed
in their business growth.

In the process, the Business Advisor maintains strict confidentiality of all client information and follows conflict of interest policies of the SBDC program. In addition to the instruction/advising component of the job, the Business Advisor delivers significant outreach
to the community through regular engagement with Chambers of Commerce, Economic Development Councils, service clubs and community organizations.

The Business Advisor will also develop program operational plans designed to attract growth-oriented clients; deploy
marketing efforts to enhance awareness of and access to Washington SBDC and partner programs; and perform research; data compilation and budget analysis for use in managerial decision making and new project considerations.

The Washington SBDC is a public service organization funded in part by the U.S. Small
Business Administration, Washington State University and other Washington institutions of
higher education, economic development organizations, and other public and private funding
partners.

Its network of business advisors, trainers, and support staff have been helping Washington business owners who want to start, grow, and succeed in their business since 1980. We provide in-depth, confidential, no cost customized one-on-one business advising,
business training and advisor assisted market intelligence research to help small business achieve their full potential.

Only applicants who are currently eligible to work in the U.S. and meet the minimum
qualifications will be considered for the position:
 Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field
 Three (3) years of experience in business ownership, business development, business
management and/or program development
 Strong computer skills including demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Preferred qualifications include: Demonstrated local economic development, community, and
business relationships; Experience in advising small businesses; Five (5) or more years of small
business ownership and/or management; Experience developing and/or teaching management
short courses; Program and/or product development experience; and Work experience with
growth-oriented firms. Proficiency in English and additional languages preferred.

Spanish speaking candidates are preferred for this position.
